Who We Are and What We Do

The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen - General Committee of Adjustment Norfolk Southern - Southern Lines represents locomotive engineers and trainman employed by the Norfolk Southern Railroad working throughout the Eastern United States. This BLET General Committee is the second largest within the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers & Trainmen organization, representing over 3,000 members through 46 Local BLET Divisions, across 15 states.  We hold the exclusive right to bargain with the carrier (railroad) on behalf of the craft of Locomotive Engineer.  The historical territory of The Committee was along the rails of the former Southern Railway System.  In 1999, Norfolk Southern acquired 68% of Conrail, and during this time, the territory of The Committee expanded to its present size and scope.
